How Ugbe Wilfred Turned His Life Around with a Diploma in Web Design at Univad

This course gave me that first push. It helped lay a strong foundation, and more importantly, it gave me motivation. Being a student of Univad has helped me take this dream more seriously. The platform, the community, the structure; it’s all helped me stay focused and build discipline around learning.

For Ugbe Ejiofor Wilfred, getting into tech wasn’t just about chasing a trend. It was about understanding how things work, the structure behind the websites he visits every day, and the desire to one day build platforms that others can interact with and learn from.

That curiosity, paired with a growing interest in how the web is built, led him to enroll in HTML5 for Modern Web Development, his very first course under Univad’s Diploma in Web Development programme.

In this spotlight, Wilfred shares how that decision sparked something deeper, a clearer sense of direction, a more confident mindset, and a new level of commitment to becoming a professional web developer. His journey captures the power of starting small, staying patient, and being part of a learning environment that meets you exactly where you are.

What course did you recently complete at Univad, and why did you choose it?

I recently completed HTML5 for Modern Web Development, and it was my first course under the web development diploma on Univad.

What pulled me in was curiosity. I’ve always been drawn to how the web works, not just what you see on the surface, but the actual code and structure underneath. Seeing how websites function, how content is displayed, how pages are designed… it made me want to learn how to build those things myself.

Univad offered a clear starting point with structure, support, and access, so enrolling in this course felt like the right step forward.

How did this course fit into your personal or career plans?

My long-term goal is to become a professional web developer. I want to be someone who doesn't just understand how to build a webpage, but someone who can bring full web experiences to life — functional, well-designed, and useful.

This course gave me that first push. It helped lay a strong foundation, and more importantly, it gave me motivation. Being a student of Univad has helped me take this dream more seriously. The platform, the community, the structure; it’s all helped me stay focused and build discipline around learning.

Tell us about your learning experience, content quality, platform, pace. What stood out to you?

To be honest, the beginning was tough. Everything was new. But that challenge quickly turned into motivation once I saw how well the course was structured. The content was broken down into digestible modules, and each step built on the last.

What stood out most was how understandable it all was. I wasn’t just thrown into technical terms or left to figure things out myself. Univad made it beginner-friendly without watering anything down. The videos and diagrams were high-quality, and the platform itself is smooth, no lagging, no confusion.

It felt like the entire learning experience was designed to actually help you learn, not just pass a course.

Were there any specific lessons or moments during the course that left a strong impact on you?

Yes, definitely. The part that really made me feel like a developer was learning how to add images to a web page. That might sound simple, but the joy of writing a line of code and watching it work, seeing the image show up exactly where I placed it, that was a moment I’ll never forget.

That small success reminded me why I started. It made everything real.

How has the course impacted your thinking, at work, in daily life, or personally?

It’s changed how I think in general. The course taught me to slow down, pay attention, and really think through problems before reacting. That patience is something I’m learning to apply in other parts of life too.

In tech, you can’t always rush things, you have to debug, reflect, and approach things with structure. That mindset is helping me in personal decisions, work-related tasks, and just how I approach challenges every day.

What’s your major goal, and how has this course moved you closer to it?

My ultimate goal is to become a professional web developer, someone who’s not just fluent in code, but capable of building real projects from scratch. I want to grow into someone who can contribute meaningfully to tech teams or even start my own digital projects someday.

This first course is a huge step in that journey. It’s helped me realize that this goal is not just possible, it’s within reach, as long as I stay committed.

Would you recommend Univad to others who want to learn or grow in tech?

100% yes. The way Univad structures its content makes learning tech feel achievable, even if you’re coming in with zero background. The virtual classroom is well designed, the courses are hands-on, and the pace allows you to learn deeply without getting overwhelmed.

If you’re serious about improving your skills or starting a career in tech, Univad is one of the best places to start.
